These skills are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learning<\/li>\n<li>Reading<\/li>\n<li>Writing<\/li>\n<li>Oral communication<\/li>\n<li>Numeracy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The ACSF is designed to support a consistent national approach to identifying and developing these core skills.<\/p>\n<h3>What is the ACSF framework?<\/h3>\n<p>It provides shared concepts and language for identifying, describing and discussing core skills. It also provides an approach for benchmarking, monitoring and reporting on performance of core skills.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-entry\">\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yvMtIMamzsU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h4>Key features of the ACSF<\/h4>\n<p>The five core skills outlined in the ACSF are described across three areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Performance<\/strong> (from 1: Low level performance to 5: High level performance)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Performance variables<\/strong> (Support, Context, Text complexity and Task complexity)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Domains of communication<\/strong> (Personal and community, Workplace and employment and EducatIon and training)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each level of the five levels of performance are described using:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>indicators<\/strong>: statements that provide an overview of exit performance at each level<\/li>\n<li><strong>focus areas<\/strong>: aspects within each indicators against which performance features are organised<\/li>\n<li><strong>performance features<\/strong>: descriptors of what an individual could do at each level<\/li>\n<li><strong>sample activities<\/strong>: specific examples of what someone could do at a particular level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) outlines five core skills that are essential for individuals to participate effectively in our society.
