How will your party recognise the role of Adult and Community Education in the Australian<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">education system?<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Lifelong learning is at the very core of the Greens\u2019 principles on education. The Greens believe that education<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">is a right of people at all stages of life and that all people are entitled to free, well-funded and high quality,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">life-long public education and training. Adult and community education is a core part of lifelong learning.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Guaranteeing universal access to adult education will help us build a more equitable society and prepare for<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the ever changing nature of work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">2.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">What plans does your party have for funding\/resourcing ACE nationally?<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The Greens\u2019 have a plan to transform the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector by making TAFE<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">free. The community not-for-profit adult education and VET sectors should be supported to complement<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">publicly funded TAFE.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Our core principles include providing access and making participation in adult and community education more<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">equitable for Indigenous Australians, people living in remote areas and those suffering from disadvantage,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">including socioeconomic disadvantage. Inclusive and equitable adult and community education is a public<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">good that must be a policy and funding priority.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">3.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">What is your party\u2019s response to the recommendations from the Standing Committee on<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Employment, Education and Training\u2019s Inquiry into adult literacy and its importance?<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The Greens agree with recommendations contained in the inquiry into adult literacy and its importance, for<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">which the report titled<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u201cDon\u2019t take it as read\u201d<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">was tabled in the House on 31 March 2022. The Greens are a<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">strong voice for the VET sector and have always advocated for adult education and lifelong learning to be a<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">focus of national strategies. The Greens will continue their focus on lifelong learning and ensure access is<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">expanded so that no one is deprived of opportunities to engage or re-engage in learning at any stage of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">4.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">What is your party\u2019s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and genuine<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">engagement with the ACE sector to ensure Australia works towards those goals, in particular,<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning<\/span><\/strong><br role=\"presentation\" \/><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">opportunities for all?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The Greens are fully committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and to ensuring genuinely<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">inclusive and equitable quality education for everyone. This is why the Greens have a policy for free lifelong<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">learning and education, from childcare and early education to university and TAFE.
