{"id":30778,"date":"2022-03-30T06:27:23","date_gmt":"2022-03-30T06:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ala.asn.au\/?p=30778"},"modified":"2022-03-30T06:27:23","modified_gmt":"2022-03-30T06:27:23","slug":"media-release-a-missed-opportunity-to-realise-the-full-benefits-of-adult-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ala.asn.au\/media-release-a-missed-opportunity-to-realise-the-full-benefits-of-adult-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Media release: A missed opportunity to realise the full benefits of adult education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2022 federal budget includes some support for disadvantaged Australians but has missed the opportunity to realise the full benefits of adult education; according to Adult Learning Australia, the national peak body for adult community education (ACE).<\/p>\n<p>Worthwhile initiatives in this year\u2019s budget include continued support for the ReBoot program delivered through the not-for-profit sector, which aims to help young, disadvantaged Australians develop skills and abilities for work.<\/p>\n<p>Other investments in skills and training such as the Technology Investment Boost and the Job Trainer Aged Care Boost, which will see 15,000 low and fee free training places in aged care courses, are welcomed \u2013 along with the incentives for small business to invest in staff training.<\/p>\n<p>However, recent ABS<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> data identified that the Australians who could most benefit from work-related adult education have the least access to it such as people who are unemployed or looking for work.
